In total, we had 40 people go to the game: 18 kids, 5 staff and 17 English teachers. The English teachers that came with us donated the money required for the children’s tickets and their lunches, so thank you all for donating your time and energy to make this event possible! Also, a special thanks to Grandma Betty for donating the transportation fees that allowed us to charter a bus for the students and staff — we appreciate your support!
We organized another outing with Iris Orphanage, this time to see a baseball game between The Tohoku Rakuten Eagles and Yomiyuri Giants. The weather was amazing (truth be told, it was actually too hot) which was lucky because we were in the middle of the rainy season. It was a great game to watch! The score was very close, and the Giants had a chance to tie and win late in the final inning. However the pitching and defense of the Eagles won out, and unexpectedly, the Rakuten Eagles beat the Yomiyuri Giants by a score of 2-1, despite having lost to them the day before 10-1! The kids and staff all had a blast at the game.
